In 1942 the Australian Penny was struck at both the Perth and Bombay Mint . There is one Perth variety which can be identified by a small dot after the Y in 'PENNY' and two Bombay varieties; both featuring dots before the 'P' and after the 'Y' in Penny and only one featuring a small 'I' mint-mark under the obverse effigy. The variety missing the I is by far the scarcest type.
