The Type III two cent was issued exclusively in 2006, 2010, and 2011. It featured the new Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, with the Stuart Devlin frilled neck lizard design on the reverse. Devlin's initials (SD) can be found below the body of the lizard (see the example below).
As the two cent piece had been withdrawn from circulation in 1992, this type was never circulated and was only issued as part of mint, proof, and fine silver and gold sets. The 2006 pieces were released to commemorate 40 years since the introduction of decimal currency. The 2010 proof piece was issued as part of a mini-set and the 2011 silver- proof piece was issued to commemorate 21 years since the one and two cent piece were withdrawn from circulation.
