The 1946-P Shilling was struck at the Perth Mint to a total mintage of 1,316,000. In the same year the Melbourne Mint also produced a further 10,072,000 pieces. The types can be differentiated by a small dot mint-mark located below the star and above the denomination on the reverse of the Perth Mint variety. The relatively low mintage of the Perth variety has made the type quite scarce. In mint-state the type is substantially more valuable than the Melbourne variety and archives some of the highest values for the series.
