The 1911 matte proof threepence distinguishes itself from the 1911 specimen strike not only through its matte surfaces, but also by being the only threepence struck with a reeded edge. There are 93 grooves on the reeded edge of this pattern threepence (Triton Technologies International Ltd, 2002) and the piece is known by only two examples.
