


In 1951 the Royal Mint in London produced 18,000,000 Pennies for Australia. In the same year the Melbourne Mint produced a further 21,240,000 pieces and the Perth Mint an additional 12,888,000. The London variety can also be distinguished form the other varieties by a small 'PL'
The 1951-PL Penny is a very common type that is generally well struck up. The type is easily obtainable into mint-state with examples as high as MS64 selling for less than fifty dollars.
