The 1925 proof penny is a proof of record striking produced at the Melbourne mint. Whilst not particularly scarcer than the other proof pennies from 1923 to 1933, the proof 1925 penny enjoys strong premiums over the other issues due to its perceived scarcity owing to the key date business strikeas seen with a 2009 sale at $291,250 (Noble Numismatics, 2009) . The penny, like other proof pennies of the era, is known by fewer than 10 examples and can be characterized by a flawless strike with a strong presence of die polishing striations, even rim beading and a semi-mirror finish, though this may lost through toning.
