The 1942-Y Half Penny was struck at the Perth Mint to a total mintage of 4,334,400. The reverse design features the relatively new Kruger Gray design of a jumping kangaroo with 'AUSTRALIA' around the top of the design, 'HALF PENNY' around the bottom and the year above that. The obverse features an uncrowned bust of King George VI facing to the left with the legend 'GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX F : D : IND : IMP' (George VI, by the Grace of God, Ruler and King of Britain, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India). The relatively high population has helped to keep most grades relatively affordable with prices becoming more prohibitive only around MS63 and higher.
